Consumer Confidence
slips by 3.5 points MoM, up by 6 points QoQ
Bank
Indonesia’s Consumer Survey indicated that consumer confidence is still in
the optimistic level despite a 3.5 points decrease in June 2017 to 122.4. The
city of Makassar and Banten posted the highest declines in the Consumer
Confidence Index (CCI) in June 2017 by -18.8 and -14.3 points respectively.
The June 2017 figure puts CCI for 2Q17 at 124.0, a 6-point increase from
1Q17. Consumers’ income is boosted by Tunjangan Hari Raya (THR), but
employment availability for the next 6 months drags the CCI. Meanwhile, price
increase for the next 3 months is expected to soften, showed by a 13.1-point
decrease in the Price Expectation Index (IEH) to 163.9. (Bank Indonesia)
